You Were Made To Heal

"The wisdom of the body is responsible for 90% of the hope of patients to recover. The body has a super wisdom that is in favor of life, rather than death. This is the power that we depend on for life. All doctors are responsible for letting their patients know of this great force working within them." - Dr. Richard Cabot, Harvard Medical School Why do our bodies heal? Why is it that when you get a cut on the arm, without giving any thought to it, it heals. Or why do you get a fever when you're sick and then your body returns to normal temperature? I remember one of the very first concepts I learned in Anatomy and Physiology was the concept of homeostasis  which is defined as  the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes. Basically, when something goes awry in the body, it will always try to return it back to a normal state and the symptoms that we associate with si...

Back Problems? The Doctor You See First Matters...BIG TIME!

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for a person to seek help from a doctor, but who you decide to go to first can make a huge difference in the outcome.  A prospective study done on 1,885 individuals in the state of Washington found that  approximately 42.7% of workers who first saw a surgeon ended up having surgery. In contrast, only 1.5% of those who saw a chiropractor ended up getting surgery.  So what does this mean for patients? The first point to make about this study is chiropractic works. If chiropractic wasn't effective, the number of people receiving surgery after chiropractic care would be much higher, but as the numbers show, there is a stark contrast. The second point is less money spent. With deductibles skyrocketing many people are paying upwards to $10,000 out of pocket before their insurance coverage will start. Compare this with average cost of chiropractic care in the neighborhood of $500-$1500. That is a pretty substantial...

Case Study: Reduction of Asthma Symptoms and Medications After Chiropractic Care

A 5–year-old male with a history of asthma for 3–1/2 years sought chiropractic care for his asthma symptoms, which included tightness of the chest, shortness of breath, nasal congestion, and nonproductive cough that were not responding to allopathic treatment. He was adjusted based on location of his subluxations (intersegmental joint dysfunction). His treatment consisted of chiropractic adjustment to the cervical and thoracic region. He observed a quick and drastic reduction in his symptoms and he has been able to reduce all of his medication over the next few months with the exception of a rescue inhaler of albuterol, which he needs only infrequently. How Our Bodies Detox

The word "detox" has become a buzz word in the area of nutrition and health, but the truth of the matter is whether you are on a “detox program” or not, your body is detoxing itself every second of everyday.  Detoxification is simply the body eliminating and expelling toxins after neutralizing them. When it comes to detoxification of the body, it is important to remember that no matter what type of diet you go on or what supplement you take, the body is actually responsible for executing the detox. Can different programs or supplements help? Absolutely. I am always in favor of aiding the body by giving it what it needs to function properly, and after reading this you will have a better grasp of how your body detoxifies and what happens when you engage in a detox program. So what are these toxins, and where do they come from? To put it simply, a toxin is a poison. It can come from outside the body or be produced by different mechanisms within the body. Toxins can have det...
